Our client’s IT Infrastructure department is looking for an Application Support System Engineer.

This candidate will be part of the Application team, which is responsible for deploying all in-house developed applications running in Acceptance & Production, and which manages some core shared applications and middleware to support those applications (like Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, …). More and more applications are being deployed on Linux servers, and as such the team needs to expand his knowledge to both Windows and Linux deployment.

We are looking for an experienced profile, eager to learn, and able to learn quickly.

Description:

• Assist on day to day operational tasks like deploy and update all in-house developed applications in acceptance & production environments (mostly Windows IIS & SQL based);

• Assist on application server architecture for deployment of new applications: analyze requirements, assist on the design, and setup/deploy the application in acceptance and production environments

• Interface with (mainly IT) clients.

• Second-line troubleshooting of issues.

• Configuration of F5 load balancing

• VIPs for web applications

• Supporting implementations on core applications: RabbitMQ, Redis Cache and other shared technologies – knowledge of these products is a nice to have;

• Ensure optimal 2nd/3rd level (interface to Microsoft and other 3rd parties) support;

• Keep operating and installation documentation for the above areas up to date;

• Be part of the duty role (24/7, 1 in 6 weeks) in this team.

Requirements:

Technical Skills:

• Must be natively French or Dutch speaking, able to speak and understand the other language – English mandatory for documents and international meetings, German is a plus;

• Proven recent experience in supporting Applications on Linux Redhat (deploy an application, verify logs, monitor health and performance of a system, create scripts)

• Proven recent expert experience with Windows Server (2012-2022) (>10 years);

• Proven knowledge of IIS management and web site deployments

• Knowledge of Powershell

• Knowledge of MS-SQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, NEO4J or Redis Cache is a plus (on the job coaching/training as operator will be provided in missing knowledge);

• Understanding of firewalls and network load balancing concepts (product knowledge will be provided)

Non-technical Skills:

• Team player, but able to work independently;

• Analytical skills for troubleshooting work;

• Pragmatic mindset and customer minded;

• Must be able and eager to learn new products or technologies (if not all of the above technologies are known, it is expected to learn them within a year maximum);

• Telework: 60% homeworking and 40% in office

• Must be available for duty role (24/7, 1 in 6 weeks)

• Must have a driver license and car (required for the duty role) and mobile phone;

• Please state in your application proven experience with similar environments (5000 users, 600 application servers, 200 SQL servers).
