Business Intelligence Analyst

Trasys International offers IT Consulting jobs at the European Institutions and International Organizations.

For a project at the European Commission premises in Brussels, Trasys International is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst with experience in data governance and data management implementations.


Your main responsibilities:


  • Elaborate the functional analysis, including the gathering of functional and non-functional requirements related to data provisioning and data analytics;
  • Analyse business processes and BI products in order to map data assets and identify critical data elements;
  • Identify data sources across multiple platforms and document data flows;
  • Perform data modelling via different techniques and types of data models and validate them using data profiling, with the goal of defining and maintaining an client's enterprise data model;
  • Write technical documentation as needed;
  • Establish and operate data requirements management, so that data is always defined within a common client's business information model;
  • Assist business stakeholders in developing common and accepted data definitions for critical data elements;
  • Help establish best practices and ownership of the data and metadata, and develop rules for their use;
  • Develop of data quality standards and metrics, and data protection standards;
  • Engage with the system owners, system providers and business users to ensure that data quality requirements are defined, documented and translated into effective and consistent processes that improve the quality of data;
  • Develop, maintain, monitor and review standards, policies and procedures to support the implementation of data governance and data management within the business;
  • Assist and contribute to the delivery of the data governance programme;
  • Continually assess and identify risks, ensuring they are mitigated and accounted for work within the data governance programme;
  • Support project planning and management to ensure best practice and legal frameworks are followed with regards to data governance.

Requirements

  • You have a Master's level or 5 years of higher education in Information Technology or equivalent by experience;
  • You have at least 9 years of experience in similar tasks;
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to participate in multilingual meetings in English and to understand, speak, and write in English (C1 level);
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and run stakeholder meetings;
  • Good presentation skills;
  • Documentation and writing skills;
  • Ease of communication;
  • Rapid self-starting capability;
  • Ability to work in a team, integrate and work in an international/multi-cultural environment, on variable-sized projects.

Business analysis and data modelling

  • A good understanding of information management practices including information lifecycle management, enterprise architecture, interoperability, data modelling, reference and master data management and carrying out business audits;
  • Good knowledge of business processes modelling techniques (i.e. BABOK, BPMN), business analysis tools and UML;
  • Proven experience in the analysis of business requirements and translation into clear and concise user stories;
  • Proven experience in requirements gathering for data integration tools (e.g. data warehouse, data hubs etc.) and complementary data-related tools (metadata management tools/data catalogues, data quality tools etc.);
  • Proven experience with different data modelling techniques and types of data models: conceptual, logical, entity-relationship;
  • Experience with data vault modelling is considered a plus;
  • Ability to work with system users and other stakeholders to determine and formally define their requirements by questioning, active listening and interviewing;
  • Strong ability to communicate concepts, processes and practical implementations to a technical and non-technical audience;

Data governance and data management

  • Excellent knowledge of data governance principles and practices;
  • Proven experience in data governance and data management programmes implementation;
  • Proven experience in data mapping and classification;
  • Proven experience in data profiling techniques and tools;
  • Proven experience in data quality analysis and monitoring;
  • Experience working within the information/records management discipline is considered a plus;
  • Understanding of the principles of IT security and data protection is considered a plus;

Tools

  • Knowledge of SQL and Oracle 12c RDBMS;
  • Knowledge of business intelligence reporting tools;
  • Knowledge of data cataloguing tools
  • Knowledge of data profiling tools


Nationality and Security Clearance

As a Personal Security Clearance of level "EU SECRET/SECRET EU" might be requested for this profile, only candidates with a valid EU citizenship will be taken into consideration.
