Data Architect (Azure) | Permanent Contract | Athens or remote - GR
Your daily work routine will include:
- Architectural Design: Design scalable, robust, and cloud-native data architectures on Azure to support business objectives, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
- Data Integration & Pipelines: Develop and implement efficient data integration solutions using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Apache Airflow to automate data workflows across disparate systems.
- Data Modeling: Create and maintain logical, physical, and conceptual data models on Azure to support analytics and business intelligence applications, incorporating best practices in data lakes and data warehouses.
- Performance Optimization: Leverage Azure-native tools such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and SQL Databases to optimize data storage, processing, and retrieval for high performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure adherence to security standards and compliance regulations, including Azure security services (Azure Active Directory, encryption, etc.) and data governance best practices.
- Automation & Orchestration: Use Apache Airflow to automate, schedule, and monitor complex data pipelines and ensure reliable workflow orchestration in a cloud environment.
- Collaboration: Partner with data engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to translate business needs into effective and scalable Azure-based data solutions, ensuring smooth collaboration across teams. Mentor and coach other team members on the implementation of Azure best practices.
- Innovation: Stay updated on the latest Azure cloud technologies, including Databricks, Airflow, and other data engineering tools, and integrate innovative solutions to improve data systems.
- Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of data architectures, pipelines, and processes to ensure transparency and support future enhancements.
Job requirements
- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field.
- 9+ years of experience in developing complex ETL/ELT processes, with at least 4+ years as a Data Architect specializing in cloud environments.
- Azure Expertise: Proven experience designing and implementing data architectures on Azure (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, etc.).
- Data Pipeline & Orchestration: Proven experience working with Databricks and Apache Airflow for building and orchestrating data pipelines.
- Data Warehousing & Modeling: Proven experience in data warehouse design, data modeling (dimensional, 3NF), and data management within cloud platforms.
- ETL/ELT Tools: Proficiency with Azure Data Factory, SQL, and other ETL/ELT tools and frameworks within the Azure ecosystem.
- Big Data & Analytics: Familiarity with big data technologies like Spark, Hadoop, and NoSQL databases.
- Agile Methodology: Understanding of Agile Software Development practices.
- Communication & Teamwork: Excellent problem-solving, organizational, leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Strong command of both written and spoken English (B2 or higher).
- Willingness to travel and work in an international, multi-cultural environment.
- Fulfilled military obligations.
