The proper functioning of the energy market is a key pillar of the energy transition and it requires transparency. Our client plays a central role in facilitating the market and publishing key market data. To support this mission, they’re is on a path to becoming a data-centric organization.

Within the Market Energy Solutions (MES) department different activities linked to balancing are organized, such as the conceptual evolutions of the products, the operation of the services, the publication of key data related to balancing.

To support these activities, our client is looking to strengthen the MES team by hiring a Data Steward for data related to Balancing. Based within the Market Monitoring and Data team, the Data Steward is responsible for monitoring and improving the data quality of the balancing data both in publication and reporting context.

The Data Steward we are seeking will focus on the following key responsibilities:

• Gain a deep understanding of business processes underpinning balancing data, and thoroughly document them;

• Define, implement, and oversee data quality rules for monitoring for balancing data;

• Conduct in-depth root cause analysis in response to data quality issues;

• Propose and coordinate corrective actions and long-term solutions to structurally improve data quality;

• Act as a key support to the Data Owner, contributing to the evolution of data-driven products and services.

• Drive the transition from IT-led to business-led data products, ensuring the business takes ownership of high-quality, timely, and reliable data delivery.

• Collaborate within cross-functional teams (business and IT) to co-create and deliver value-added data products.

Requirements:

• master's degree in engineering or a technical discipline.

• Min 3 years of proven experience as a Data Steward or in a similar role.

• strong interest in the energy sector and either understand or are eager to learn about the dynamics of the energy market.

• analytical mind to tackle complex problems in a simple and structured way.

• proven experience in SQL, Python, … or analytical tools.

• focus on details without losing sight of the overall picture and deliver flawless work.

• like teamwork and is result-oriented.

• learn quickly, with a proactive and positive mindset.

• fluent in Dutch or French and can communicate fluently in English both orally and in writing.
