For our customer based in Malta - a European Institution, we are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team in the area of international protection - supporting Member States in applying the package of EU laws that governs asylum, international protection, and reception conditions. You will play a crucial role in providing practical, legal, technical, advisory, and operational assistance to achieve harmonized asylum practices.
Please note that the position requires 100% onsite presence in the client premises in Valletta, Malta. You need to be based in Malta or ready to relocate there, and able to work as a freelancer (B2B) without a need for visa/work permit sponsorship from our company.
More specifically, you will be responsible for:
Provide organisational support to the planning and implementing of project activities where ICT is involved;
Independently manage IT projects over the full project lifecycle, from initiation to closure;
Conduct problem assessment and requirements gathering through business analysis to establish project deliverables to the client’s stakeholders;
Manage the day-to-day operational project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, scope and ensure compliance of all project-related activities with client’s rules, standards and guidelines;
Evaluate deliveries from external contractors;
Understand, assess and manage risks and issues related to the project;
Design and conduct user acceptance testing;
Draft presentations, provide statistics and periodical reports on the ongoing projects;
Act as bridge between ICT service delivery and ICT application lifecycle management in order to obtain a greater efficiency in time to deliver;
Support and implement quality control key performance indicators;
Assist in evolutionary maintenance of existing IT Applications by temporarily acting as technical owner;
Conduct project reviews, finalize documentation, and ensure all deliverables are completed and approved.
Track and respond to tickets and service requests in a service desk context, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
Project coordination and training procedures implementation, using a recognised methodology
Project management of digital/ICT-related projects.

Job requirements
Are you the perfect match?
University degree (BSc/MSc).
Minimum 10 years of experience in IT/project management.
Ability to successfully implement PRINCE2 or similar methodologies.
Experience in project management related to MS Office, MS Project, Azure DevOps, and Atlassian usage.
PM certification (PRINCE2, PM2, PMP).
Experience in delivering projects involving technologies such as MS SharePoint, Drupal, MS Dynamics, .NET applications.
Experience in managing outsourced IT developments, preferably in an international context.
