Network Engineer

Job description

For our customer based in Luxembourg, an European Institution, we are looking for a Network Engineer.

If you will be the successful candidate, you will perform below tasks:

  • Assisting in designing, implementing, administering, monitoring and maintaining the client Network devices to deliver a 24/7 secure, reliable and efficient network services for our client;
  • Assisting in implementing, configuring, administering, monitoring and maintaining the client Video Unified communication system and its components in order to deliver a functional and reliable video conferencing solution to the whole organization;
  • Operating the client IT services according to agreed service levels, ITSM best practices, internal policies and procedures;
  • Assisting in drafting technical documentation;
  • Creating and testing standard operational procedures – backups, restore, monitoring etc.;
  • Providing 3rd level of support;
  • Registering and troubleshooting incidents and escalating to external parties;



  • Proven hands-on experience in design, configuration and administration of campus and datacentre networks
  • Designing and implementing enterprise networks (LAN, WLAN, remote connections and security components, including firewalls, load balancers, Web Application Firewalls);
  • Maintaining and monitoring medium size enterprise networks, with knowledge of standard monitoring and management tools; Or maintaining and monitoring medium size enterprise unified communication solutions (Voice and Video);
  • Troubleshooting network related incidents.
  • Collaborative approach with hands on attitude
  • Knowledge of ICT infrastructure and systems
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices in ICT operations
  • Capability of working in an international/multicultural environment (language and communications
  • skills)
  • Capability to speak to and interface with business and technical audiences
  • Capability to write clear and structured technical documents
  • Ability to articulate solutions to non-technical employees/customers
  • Specific Knowledge of CISCO Campus Network hardware (Catalyst switches, ISR routers, …)

  • Nice to have:
    • Specific skills in any of the following areas: Security or Infrastructure (Systems);
    • Specific Knowledge of CISCO ACI, Cisco WebEx;
    • Specific Knowledge of Fortinet Firewalls (Fortigate);
    • Specific Knowledge of F5 load balancers;

The candidates must be eligible for obtaining a security clearance to handle European Union Classified Information up to the level of "SECRET UE", according to Commission Decision of 29 November 2001 (2001/844/EC, ECSC, Euratom) and Commission Decision of 3 February 2005 (2005/94/EC, Euratom) amending Decision 2001/844/EC, ECSC, Euratom. The EPPO reserves the right to ask that the procedures to obtain the security clearance starts during the execution of the contract
