For one of our clients based in Luxembourg - an European Institution, we are looking for an Senior Financial Application Developer to support the ESM Project Management Office in governance, reporting, resource management, tool enhancement, and project coordination activities. The role requires strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills. This is a part-time and remote position, but visits to the Luxembourg office will be required, including the first work week.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing new required features in the VBA / Python applications/macros and PowerBI dashboards;

  • Following up on deliverables related to these applications with internal and external parties;

  • Preparing documents to support internal decision making, testing or training material;

  • Developing and executing an internal communication plan for changes and new features to the business;

  • Testing, change management documenting, and supporting the deployment of the technology and hand over to production support;

  • Ensuring all material is stored on the client’s SharePoint environment for audit purposes;

  • Supporting other division related tasks as applicable such as organizing and running meetings;

  • Developing agendas, preparing minutes, following up on open actions, identifying risk and issues with appropriate mitigating actions;

  • Participating in handover of VBA, Java, and SQL applications and their corresponding documentation;

  • Participating in handover of development and change management processes;

  • Providing handover protocol to document the completeness of handover tasks.

Deliverables:
The Consultant will be responsible for providing the following deliverables to the client:

  • Producing files in MS Office formats including the project VBA code, if applicable;

  • Completing reliable functional and technical documentation about the implemented functionality;

  • Performing test management;

  • Creating and executing relevant test cases, demonstrating the expected behavior in terms of requirements fulfillment and software quality;

  • Creating training material, conducting trainings if necessary, and other change management material as needed to support the change management process;

  • Managing internal and external communication

Job requirements

Are you a perfect match?

Mandatory requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in similar and relevant IT projects)

  • B2 level English or higher

  • Development and rollout experience with VBA and MS Office Macros (Access & Excel).

  • Good understanding of modern IT architecture.

  • Good understanding of and experience with: SQL, XML, XSLT.

  • Good project management skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks under competing deadlines and shifting priorities

  • Experience in providing reporting and other communications at a senior management level

  • Ability to document clear and complete business requirements

  • Proven customer-oriented change management communication skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written

Preferred:

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure

  • Professional experience with PowerBI and/or Microsoft Fabric

  • Experience in the financial services industry

  • Experience with the following financial IT systems: SWIFT, Murex, Bloomberg
